"THE SCORPION GESTURE" EXHIBIT @ THE RUBIN MUSEUM
In 2018, The Rubin Museum planned a year long exploration called The Future is Now, an invitation to unpack our commonly held ideas about the future by stepping into art experiences where prevailing notions of time, spirituality, identity and conventional analysis were challenged. As part of the exploration, the internationally acclaimed artist, Chitra Ganesh invited the STUDIO to collaborate on a series of wall sized animations that served as an intervention between her own work and that of the traditional pictorial forms evident in carefully selected paintings and sculptures in the Museum’s collection. Ganesh’s work explores narratives of femininity, sexuality and power that are largely absent from the canons of art and literature.
